Invest in your digital marketing strategy NOW!

A strong digital marketing strategy has been a vital aspect of small and large brands' overall marketing strategy for years, but why is it so crucial NOW?

The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us that we can’t be solely reliant on a physical high street presence or the use of traditional media, such as billboards, signage and leaflets to stay in touch with our customers. By investing in a strong online presence, you make your brand accessible to existing and potential customers 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Check out our blog post on our favorite communications strategies by brands during lockdown here.

With many customers still nervous to go out onto the highstreet, communicating with your audience online can be an invaluable asset. Your online presence can also be very cost effective, which is pretty important when the economy has shrunk by 25% because of a global pandemic!

Digital allows you to advertise and communicate your products and services directly to your target audience, improving conversion rates and allowing you to make the most of your marketing budget. Quite often small businesses make the mistake of thinking about their digital marketing strategy on a short term basis. But your digital marketing efforts should be a long term plan.

What is digital marketing?

Digital is the online face of your brand. Often it’s the first impression you make to potential customers. And we all know first impressions count.

Digital marketing ecompasses all aspects of your business online presence including where you appear in search engines, your email marketing campaigns, your social media activity and your weekly blog posts, all of which can help contribute to lead generation.

Basically, any way someone can see or interact with your business online comes under digital and it should be a part of every marketers plan.

Not all digital marketing channels are right for every business, it’s much better to do a few things really well then have a finger in every pie. If you don’t have time to post across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube and TikTok everyday, then DON’T. Choose one or two that work best for your business and work on it, nurture it and give it lots of love.

How do you know what is best for you?

Sometimes it can be tricky to work out where you should be present online, with so many different platforms to choose from, where do you even start?!

Well you go online to communicate with your customers, so go where they are. For example if you’re wanting to target a 50+ demographic we wouldn’t suggest creating a snapchat account.

If you’re still not sure, we can offer you a free audit of your website and social media platforms to see areas to focus on or change, just get in touch with us.

Top Tips on making a good strategy

As with all business, strategy is everything, you can’t go into digital blind. If you’re not going to create targets and measure your marketing campaign effectively then you’re not making a wise investment. Here are our top tips and things to consider when thinking about your social media strategy.

Plan and Measure

Don’t just randomly post on social media, use analytics to see when the best time to reach your audience is, this will help improve the engagement levels of your posts. And make sure you keep track of how successful your posts are, if one post had a much higher reach, why? Did you use a new hashtag, post at a different time of day. All of these factors can make an impact on the success of your social media posting.

Relevant Content

Good content marketing can be key to many business digital marketing strategies. Your content needs to be relevant, engaging and tailored to your chosen social media platform. For example, Instagram users are unlikely to respond well to a block of text as it’s a photo based platform. Equally, if your photos are not relevant to your business or the overall brand message that you’re wanting to portray, then it will confuse your audience and they will become disinterested in your content very quickly.

Digital marketing is not just a game of trying to work out what your audience wants to see, it’s also a game of playing the social media algorithms. One thing that can always work in your favour is consistent activity. That’s not just posting, that includes interacting with your audience and other social accounts. Being active on these platforms helps bots know you’re real and that you have content that your followers might want to see.

All of this can be time consuming and you’ve got a business to run! So if you’re interested in investing in your digital marketing strategy get in touch today to see how we can help you.
